THE LORD HAD SHOWN
FAVOUR/GRACE TO
ELIZABETHET
The LORD has shown
favour/grace it signifies the
purpose of John the Baptist
birth, for he was to herald
the arrival of the
Messiah/JESUS CHRIST the
gift of GOD’s grace
John the Baptist shall live in
total dedication to GOD, set
apart for special service to
GOD , he shall not drink
wine as part of Nazirite vow,
Number 6:1-8
Filled with the Holy Ghost,
indicates that the source of
his Ministry is from GOD’s
Spirit, the Spirit’s Coming to
John is from his mother’s
womb and to fulfill the
prophesy of Malachi 4:5-6
In many ways, John the
Baptist was to be like the
fearless prophet Elijah,
because he is filled with the
Holy Spirit, John the Baptist
will be a preacher of moral
righteousness to turn the
heart of the father’s to the
children, and the
disobedient to the wisdom
of just to make ready a
people prepared for the
LORD- To get people to
come to JESUS CHRIST
To make ready a people- To
prepare them for his coming
by announcing that the
Messiah was about to
appear and calling them for
repentance
LUKE 3:4-6
4) As it is written in the book
of the words of Isaiah the
prophet, saying, the voice of
PREPARE THE WAY OF THE
LORD

one crying in the wilderness,
prepare ye the way of the
LORD, make his paths straight
5)Every valley shall be filled,
and every mountain and hill
shall be brought low; and the
crooked shall be made straight,
and the rough ways shall be
made smooth
6) And all flesh shall see the
salvation of GOD
Here is the fulfillment of
the word of prophet Isaiah
40:3 in the ministry of John
when way is made of the
Gospel into the heart of
men , by removing all that
is hindrance ,by bring them
to the obedience to JESUS
CHRIST and his grace, then
preparation is made to
welcome the salvation of
GOD
John the Baptist preached
the necessity of
repentance, in order to the
remission of sins, and that
the Baptism of water was an
out ward sign, and of the
inward cleansing and
renewal of heart, which is
the effect of true
repentance.
LUKE 3:2-3
2)Annas and Caiaphas being
the high priests, the word of
GOD came unto JOHN the son
of Zechariah in the wilderness
3)And he came into all the
country about Jordan,
preaching the baptism of
repentance for the remission
of sins
PREACHING THE BAPISIM
OF REPENTANCE FOR THE
REMISSION OF SINS:
The scope of John’s
Ministry were to bring the
people their sins, to the
savior JESUS CHRIST, John
warned corrupted race of
mankind thou became a
generation of vipers; hateful
to GOD , that there is no
way of fleeing from the
wrath to come, but by the
way of repentance- To
change our mind and our
ways, which must be
shown.
MATTHEW 3:1-2
1)In those days came John the
Baptist, preaching in the
wilderness of Judea
2)And saying, repent ye; for the
kingdom of heaven is at hand
JOHN THE BAPTIST THE
FORERUNNER OF JESUS
CHRIST

John the Baptist announced
JESUS coming and the
kingdom of heaven.
REPENT YE FOR THE
KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS
AT HAND
Is a radical change in one’s
life that involves forsaking
sin turning and returning
to GOD, that is the
establishment of GOD’s rule
in the heart and lives of his
people, the over coming of
all forces of evil, and the
removal from the world the
consequences of sin
including death and a
creation of a new other that
leads to eternal life
LUKE 3:7
7)Then said he to the
multitude that came forth to
be baptized of him, O
generation of vipers, who hath
warned you to flee from the
wrath to come?
8)Bring forth therefore fruits
worthy of repentance, and
begin not to say within
yourselves, we have Abraham
to our father; for I say unto
you, that GOD is able of these
stones to rise up children unto
Abraham
THEN SAID HE TO THE
MULTITUDE O
GENERATION OF VIPERS
Some people wanted to be
baptized by John so they
could escape eternal
punishment, but are not
ready to repent from their
sin or were willing to
change the way they live.
BRING FORTH FRUIT FOR
REPENTANCE
Proof was required in
genuine repentance to
discourage mere profession
and out ward show
*John had harsh words for
such religious leaders.,
Especially those religious
leaders who believe and
relies on family line,
inherited and handed down
by their parents or church
cannot save

Everyone has to make a
personal decision to believe
and trust in JESUS CHRIST
and cannot rely on some
one else faith for salvation
LUKE 3:9
9) And now also the axe is laid
unto the root of the trees;
every tree therefore which
bringeth not fruits is hewn
down, and cast into the fire
AND NOW THE AXE IS LAID
UNTO THE ROOT OF THE
TREE
Judgment now is as nigh
unto men, as
GOD now once more offers
us his grace in and through
his SON, JESUS CHRIST.
which if we refuse, he will
no longer bear with us, for
the hand of GOD is lifted up
to strike the fatal blow- That
every one that, while he
professes to be one of
GOD’S People, contradict by
living a wicked life, and
worldly in attitude, will be
cut down and send to hell
LUKE 3:10-11
10)And the people asked him
saying, what shall we do that
then ?
11)He answereth and saith
unto them, he that hath two
coats, let him impact to him
that hath none; and he that
hath meat let him do likewise
THE PEOPLE ASK WHAT DO
WE DO
John answered the
publicans and those who
come to him, you must love
your neighbor as yourself ,
which involved the love of
GOD by, sharing what you
have with those who need it
and giving to others in need
He that hath two coats, let
him impact to him that hath
none and he that have food
let him do likewise
LUKE 3:12
12) Then came also publicans
to be baptized, and said unto
him Master, what shall we do?
13)And he said unto them
exact no more than that which
is appointed you
THE CORRUPT TAX
COLLECTOR, (WHAT SHALL
WE DO)
The publicans who are Tax
collectors asked John what
shall we do to prove the
truth of our repentance?

They were notorious for
their dishonesty, as they
worked for the Roman
authority and despised by
the Jews, who are
convinced to change their
wicked life under John’s
ministry
But John called them to
change their ways by collect
no more tax than the
government requires by
extortion
LUKE 3:14
14) And the soldiers likewise
demanded of him, saying, and
what shall we do? And he said
unto them, do violence to no
man neither accuse any falsely;
and be content with your wage
DO NO VIOLENCE OR
ACCUSE THEM FALSELY
These soldiers were the
Roman troops sent to keep
peace, many of them
oppressed the poor and use
their power to take
advantage of all the people,
*DO NO VIOLENCE
John said apply no violence
which was used by irregular
troops to extort money or
property with force against
the person or individuals
NEITHER ACCUSE ANY
FALSELY
Don’t be involved in false
accusation or accuse
persons of crime wrongly to
take advantage of the
person
BE CONTENT WITH YOU
WAGE: Don’t take unlawful
means to increase you
LUKE 3:15-16
15) And as the people were in
expectation, and all men
mused in their hearts of John,
400 YEARS OF
EXPECTATION OF JOEL
2:28-29 & MALACHI 3:1/

whether he were the CHRIST,
or not
16)John answered, saying
unto them all, I indeed baptize
you with water, but one
mightier than I cometh, the
latchet of whose shoes I am
not worthy to unloose he shall
baptize you with the holy
Ghost with fire
17) Whose fan is in his hand,
and he will thoroughly purge
his floor, and will gather the
wheat into his garner, but the
chaff he will burn with fire
unquenchable
18) And many other things in
his exhortation preached he
unto the people
4:5 PROPHESY OF THE
COMING MESSIAH
Israel had not seen a
prophet for more than 400
years, it was widely believed
that John is the messiah,
the austerity of John’s life,
the important subjects of
his sermons, the fervency of
his expectations, and the
freedom, impartiality, and
courage with which he
rebuked all classes of
sinner, raised him high in
the esteem of the generality
of people, that they began
to have the opinion that he
is the Messiah
JOHN DISOWNED BEING
THE CHRIST
John the Baptist said he is
not the Messiah/ CHRIST ,
but also lets them know
that JESUS CHRIST is coming
among them and that he is
not worthy to untie the
strap of his sandals, who
will Baptize them with the
Holy Ghost and fire
THE CHAFF HE WILL BURN
Those who turn from sin
and receive JESUS CHRIST
and his word will be
baptized with the Holy
Ghost, those who cling to
their sin will be punished
with unquenchable fire
MATTHEW 11:10-15
10) For this is he, of whom it
is written ,behold, I send my
messenger before thy face,
JOHN THE BAPTIS THE
GREATEST OF PERSON TO
HAVE LIVED

which shall prepare thy way
before thee
11)Verily I say unto you among
them that are born of woman
there hath not risen a greater
than John the Baptiste
notwithstanding he that is least
in the kingdom of heaven is
greater than he
12) And from the days of
John the Baptist up till now the
kingdom of heaven suffereth
violence, and the violent take it
by force
13)For all the prophets and
the law prophesied until John
14)And if ye will receive it, this
is Elijah, which was for to come
15)He that hath ears to hear
let him hear
The prophet who was more
than a prophet, the
forerunner of the kingdom,
was greater in his work, his
holiness, his perception and
the truth than those that
has ever lived
John was not resurrected
Elijah, but he took on
Elijah’s prophetic role
boldly confronting sin and
pointing people to GOD,
the first administrator of
baptism,

16)The law and the prophets
were until John: since that time
the kingdom of GOD is
preached, and every man
presseth into it
THE LAW AND THE
PROPHET WERE UNTIL
JOHN
The Ministry of John the
Baptist, which prepared the
way for JESUS CHRIST the
Messiah, was the dividing
line between the old
testaments ( the Law and
the prophets ) the last of
the line of the old
testament prophets that
herald the age of salvation.
Till the time that John the
Baptist began his Ministry,
since that time, the
Kingdom of GOD is
preached, the Gospel, and
the mysteries of the
Kingdom of Messiah, his
person, grace, set things
clearer, plainer and better
and every man pressed into
it, the Kingdom of the
Messiah that we may enter
into it.
MATHEW 11:2-3
ISAIAH 35:5-6
ISAIAH 61:1
2)Now when John had heard
in the prison the works of
CHRIST, he sent two of his
disciples
3)And said unto him, art thou
he that should come, or do we
look for another?
4) Jesus answered and said
unto them, go and show John
again those things which ye do
hear and see
5)The blind receive their sight,
and the lame walk, the lepers
are cleansed, and the deaf
hear, the dead are raised up,
and the poor have the gospel
preached to them
6)And blessed is he,
whosoever shall not be
offended in me
Now when John had heard
in prison the work of
CHRIST
John probably expected to
immediately Judge Israel
and established his
kingdom, JESUS failure to do
what John anticipated may
have planted seeds of doubt
in John about whether
JESUS was the Messiah.
*JESUS answered John’s
doubt by his
accomplishment of his
Messianic task by granting
salvation through the
response to preaching,
healing the blind, lame,
raising up the dead,
miracles and preaching
good news to the poor, by
pointing out the fulfillment
of prophesy
ISAIAH 61:1
JESUS, therefore,
performed miracles in his
own name and by his own
power, prophet had done it
by the power of GOD
THE OFFENCE ON JESUS:
The disciple of John and
Jews are offended, at
CHRIST’S parentage and
birth, at the poverty of his
parents, and at the manner
of his birth, at his
education, because he had
not learnt letters, who is
always with publicans and
sinners
And blessed are those who
are not offended in me
MATHEW 11:7-9
7)And as they departed, JESUS
began to say unto the
multitudes concerning John,
what went, ye out into the
wilderness to see? A reed
shaken with the wind?
8)But what went ye out for to
see? A man clothed in soft
raiment? Behold, they that
wear soft clothing are in kings
houses
9)But what went ye out for to
see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto
you, and more that a prophet
WHAT KIND OF MAN DID
YOU GO INTO THE
WILDERNESS TO SEE
What did you go out to see?
A man dressed in fine
clothes? No, those who
wear fine clothes are in
kings’ palaces
JESUS took occasion, from
the inquires made by John
disciples, to instruct the
people respecting the true
character of John and the
Ministry, which JESUS did to
remove the wrong
impression about John, that
A MAN CLOTHED IN SOFT
RAIMENT?
A man clothed in soft
raiment?- In raiment made
of soft materials, as fine
wool, cotton ,silk, finely
dressed, and richly
appareled, if you want to
see such person they are in
kings courts and not John
whose raiment is camel
hair, undressed, and he had
a leathern gridle about his
lions; and he eat locust and
honey
WHAT WENT YE OUT FOR
TO SEE? A PROPHET?
More than a prophet
Sustaining a character more
elevated and sacred than
the most distinguished of
the ancient prophets.
John lived in the time of the
Messiah himself, he
predicted his coming with
still more clarity, he was
instrumental to introducing
JESUS to the Nations, he
was first among the
prophets

THE RESEMBULANCE OF
JOHN AND ELIJAH
In their temper and
disposition: in their manner
of clothing, and austere way
of living; in their great piety
and holiness, in there
courage and integrity, in

8) He is not the light, but was
sent to bear witness of that
light.
THERE WAS A MAN SENT
FROM GOD
John the Baptist is not the
Messiah, but divinely
commissioned just a man,
he is not the word or Logos,
nor an angel, but a man yet
extraordinary one, by both
parents stricken in age and
filled with the Holy Ghost,
whose dress, his temper
and spirit are of Elijah, and
diet is out of the common
way
John the Baptist came to
bear witness concerning
JESUS CHRIST, who is the
true light
JOHN 1:15
15)John bare witness of him
and cried, saying, this was he
of whom I spake, he that
cometh after me ,is preferred
before me for he was before
me
JOHN BEAR WITNESS OF
HIM
John was not the Messiah,
was only a witness to him,
the GOD- appointed
messenger to announce the
arrival of JESUS CHRIST
HE COMETH AFTER ME
PREFFRED BEFORE ME
He first testified that
CHRIST was he of whom he
had spoken, that is when he
was preaching in the
wilderness, and JESUS
CHRIST came to him to be
baptized of him
FOR HE IS BEFORE ME
Both in eternal and in
respect of divine nature
JOHN 1:19
19)And this is the record of
John, when the Jews sent
priests and Levites from
Jerusalem to ask him, who art
thou?
20)And he confessed, and
denied not; but confessed, I am
not the CHRIST
21) And they asked him, what
then? Art thou Elijah? And he
saith, I am not Art thou that
prophet? And he answered no
22)Then said they unto him
who art thou? That we may
give an answer to them that
sent us, what sayest thou of

23)He said, I am the voice of
one crying in the wilderness,
Make straight the way of the
LORD, as said the prophet

24)And they which were sent
were of the Pharisees
25)And they asked him, and
said unto him, why baptizedst

26) John answered them
saying, I baptize with water;
but there standeth one among

27) He it is, who coming after

whose shoe;s latchet I am not
worthy to unlose
And this the record of John

29)the next day John seeth

which taketh away the sin of

is preferred before me; for he
was before me.
31)And I knew him not; but
that he should be made

therefore am I come baptizing

JOHN 1:32-
32)And John bare record,
saying, I saw the spirit
descending from heaven like a
dove, and it abode upon him
33)And I knew him not; but he
that sent me to baptize with
water, the same said unto me,
upon whom thou shalt see the
Spirit descending, and
remaining on him, the same is
he which baptizeth with the
Holy Ghost
34)And I saw, and bare record
that this is the SON of GOD

JOHN 5:31-33
31) If I bear witness of myself
my witness is not true
32) there is another that
beareth witness of me; and I
know that the witness of me;
and I know that the witness
which he witnesseth of me is
true
33) Ye sent unto you John, and
he bare witness unto the truth
JOHN BEAR WITNESS OF
THE TRUTH
The first witness of JESUS
CHRIST is GOD himself who
testify from the voice from
heaven that he was his well
beloved son in who he is
well pleased
Matthew 3:17
and the second witness is
John the Baptist
JOHN 5:35
35)He was a burning and a
shining light: and ye were
willing for a season to rejoice in
his light
JOHN THE BAPTIST AS
BURNING AND SHINING
LIGHT;

He was not that light, the
Messiah but the forerunner
of the light and himself a
very great one: he had
much light in himself, he is a
foremost light, burning in
the knowledge and love of
the truth; shining both in his
doctrine, in publishing the
truth, and also in holiness of
life .
FOR A SEASON
John was the lamp that kept
on burning and shining to
show you the way, and you
are willing for awhile to
rejoice in his light
JOHN 3:26-31
26)And they came unto John
and said unto him, Rabbi, he
that was with thee beyond
Jordan, to whom thou beareth
witness, behold the same

27) John answered and said, a
man can receive nothing,
except it be given him from
heaven
28) Ye yourselves bear me
witness, that I am not the
CHRIST, but that I am sent
before him
29)He that hath the bride is
the bridegroom; but the friend
of the bridegroom, which,
standeth and heareth him,
rejiceth greatly because of the
bridegroom voice; this my joy
therefore is fulfilled
30) He must increase, but I
must decrease
31)He that cometh from above
is above all; he that is of the
earth is earthly, and speaketh
EVERY BODY IS GOING TO
JESUS
John the Baptist’s disciples
were disturbed and envious,
because people
were following JESUS
instead of John,.
JESUS was gaining
popularity; that the people
flocked to him; that they
fear that John would
diminished in numbers and
influence and their master
reputation will diminished.
A MAN CAN RECEIVE
NOTHING UNLESS IS GIVEN

honor JESUS, not to build up
a sect, He rejoice at the
success of the Messiah, a
man can receive nothing- All
success was from GOD, all
success is from GOD, all
success of JESUS came from
the same source

of the earth, he that cometh
from heaven is above all

THE CHRIST
John said to his disciples,
you remember that at first I
told you I was not the
Messiah CHRIST, wherefore,
if he, who is CHRIST, is now
come, and teaches, and
baptizes and has great
number of followers, but
rather to be rejoiced at.
But I am sent before him; to
prepare his way, to make
straight his paths, to
proclaim his coming and
that the kingdom is at
hand.
HE MUST INCREASE, BUT I
MUST DECRESE
He must increase- His
authority and influence
among the people must
grow, his doctrine shall
continue to spread until it
extends through all the
earth
I must decrease- The
purpose of my ministry is to
point men to him, when
that work is done is done,
not to set up a religion of
my own, my teaching must
cease when he is fully
established. After this he
was put into prison and
there put to death.
John’s willingness to
decrease show sunusual
humility, Believer, pastors
and other church leaders,
should beware of their self
achievement than on GOD’s
kingdom
MATTHEW 14:7-11
3)For Herod had laid hold on
John, and bound him, and put
him in prison for Herodias’
sake, his brother Phillip ‘s wife
4)For John said unto him, it is
not lawful for thee to have her.
5) And when he would have
put him to death, he feared the
multitude, because they
counted him as a prophet
6)But when Herod’s birthday
was kept, the daughter of
Herodias danced before them,
and pleased Herod
7)Whereupon he promised
with an oath to give her
whatsoever she would ask
8)And she, being before
instruction of her mother, said,
give me here John Baptist’s
head in a charger
9)And the king was sorry,
nevertheless for the oath’s
sake, and them which sat with
him at meat, he commanded it
to be given to her
10)And he sent and beheaded
John in the prison
11)And his head was brought
in a charger, and given to the
damsel and she brought it to
her mother
