PHILIPPIANS 2:5
5)Let this mind be in you,
which was also in CHRIST
JESUS
6)Who, being in the form of
GOD, thought it not
robbery to be equal with
GOD
7) But made himself of no
reputation and took upon
himself to form of a servant,
and was made in the
likeness of man
8)And being found in
fashion as a man, he
humbled himself, and
became obedient unto
death, even the death of
the cross
9)Wherefore GOD also hath
highly exalted him, and
given him a name which is
above every name
10)That at the name of
JESUS every knee should
bow, of things in heaven,
and things under the earth
LET THIS MIND BE IN YOU
WHICH IS IN CHRIST
(THE HUMILITY OF CHRIST)
Your attitude should be
the same as that of CHRIST
JESUS, the believers are to
live according to our LORD
JESUS CHRIST by showing
supreme example of
unselfishness , humility, and
self-denial , it was not
merely an act of humiliation
and condescension, to
become a man, but all HIS
life was one long act of
lowliness, just as HE
“emptied himself in the act
of becoming in the likeness
of men, so He humbled
Himself; and all along the
Course of HIS earthly life he
choose constant lowliness
and to be despised and
rejected of men, he
perpetually looked not on
HIS own things but on the
things of others, the lifelong
humbling of Himself was
further manifest in HIS
becoming obedient, that
obedience was to GOD, not
only was the life of CHRIST
so perfect and an example
of unbroken obedience that
he could safely front his
adversaries with question,
which of you convinceth ME
of sin? And with claim to do 3
always the things that
pleased him, but the
obedience to the FATHER
was perfected in HIS death.
We are to bid the things
which JESUS CHRIST the
LORD minded, to love, what
he loves, to hate what he
hate; the thoughts, desires,
and motives, of the believer
should be the thoughts
desires ,motives, which
filled the heart of JESUS
CHRIST our LORD, we must
strive to imitate him, to
reproduce his image, not
only outward, but even in
the internal life
The example of our LORD

in life, if we would have the

A student is not above his

in learning and knowledge;
if the master is ignorant, the
scholar will be so too make

Believer is not greater than
the LORD: therefore, he

as I have done to you
16) Verily, verily I say unto
you, the servant is not
greater than his LORD:
neither he that is sent
greater than he that sent
him
17)If ye know these things,
happy are ye if ye do them
YE ALSO OUGHT TO WASH
ONE ANOTHER’S FEET
If JESUS had so humbled
Himself as to do the work of
a servant for them, by
washing their feet, is much
more ought they to humble
themselves for each others,
it is the manifest design of
JESUS here to inculcate a
lesson of humility; to teach
them his example that they
ought to condescend to the
most humble office for the
benefit of others, they
ought not to be proud, and
vain, and unwilling to
occupy a low place, but to
be regarded as servant of
each other and as willing to
love each other in every
way, the service demanded
is the ministry of love,
which places the interests of
self behind and below those
of others.
JESUS is an example to
believers , in the exercise of
grace, of meekness,
humility, love, patience, in
submission to ordnance
and also for his sufferings
and death: said if I have
condescended to do this to
you, then you should be
willing to do the lowest
service for each other and
prefer the least in honor to
our self, this is an act of self
denying of kindness to all in
need , to behave in a Spirit
of humility and
condescension to one
another, to do every kind
and good office, and by love
to serve one another in all
things.
Believers are to serve
others sacrificially, leading
them to walk and be
washed and cleansed from
the dirt of the world,
believers are to serve others
as JESUS did by ministering
to the human need of
others in all humility, they
are to minister to the
Spiritual needs of others by
leading them to CHRIST
from washing and cleansing
from the dirt of the world, a
believer is to serve because
of JESUS example, because
the believer is not greater
than JESUS in person and in
mission of work
HAPPY ARE YOU IF YOU
KNOW THIS THINGS AND
DO THEM
The believer duties they
owe to one another, is love,
and respect to each other,
humility, condescension,
and brotherly love, which
ought to be in all believer,
which CHRIST had given as
an example,
Happy are you if we do
these things, not
speculative knowledge of
these things, CHRIST tell
them that it is not the basic
comprehension of these
things in their motion that
would do them any good,
unless they are brought
into practice, is not
sufficient; not he that
knows and does not, but he
that knows and does HIS
Masters will, is blessed, for
to him that knoweth to do
good, and doeth it not, it is
sin JAMES 4:17 doing the
will of GOD
He is blessed: he is blessed
with communion with the

converted, and become as

heaven
4)Whosoever therefore
shall not humble himself as
this little child, the same is
the greatest in the kingdom
of heaven
EXCEPT YOU BE
CONVERTED
The first condition for
greatness is conversion
the word “converted”
means changed or turned:
to GOD from Idols:
turned from theses worldly
and carnal views from
proud ambitions ,thoughts
of worldly dignity and
desires; power, envy,
wealth ,fame unless you
turn round so as to go an
opposite direction to GOD
and left all to follow CHRIST
and be regenerated, which
is the new birth by the
Spirit; and become like a
little children, lowly in
heart, a complete change
of the state of heart to a
new direction to CHRIST,
knowing ourselves
completely ignorant and
helpless, and hanging
entirely on our FATHER who
is in heaven, for the supply
of our wants, unless you
change and be converted
you will never enter the
kingdom of heaven,
whether a person’s change
determines his eternal
destiny
JESUS points to the little
children as a model, that all
believers are to emulate
and adapt themselves with
the special attribute : they
are free from pride,
covetousness, worldliness,,
distrust, traceableness and
from worldly ambition, and
resemble them in humility,
sincerity, submissiveness
and disengagement of
affection from the things of
the present life, which
stimulates the ambition of
men, what CHRIST is after is
the total conversion or
change of a person, a
change that is complete and
thorough: a change of
heart, life, and thought,
because our thought have a
huge influence in our being,
they are centered on self,
making ourselves the
center of attention, ye shall
not enter the kingdom of
heaven
WHOSOEVER THEREFORE
SHALL HUMBLE HIMSELF AS
THIS CHILD
Believers shall humble
themselves that is prefer
others to himself, shall
behave in a modest humble
manner, not affecting
dominion over others, with
ridicule and contempt, but
humble to those of the
lowest state, is as a child
by nature, by deliberate
choice which the child is by
reason of his constitution
and natural disposition:
v Little children knows
not what dominion
means, and therefore
affect it not, are not
ambitious
v They are not given to
boast and self glory, and
to prefer themselves
before others
v They are ready taught
and instructed
v They live upon their
fathers provision,, and
are not anxious
v The are not malicious
and vindictive
The result of humility is
greatness , the greatest
person in the kingdom of
heaven will be the person
who have been converted
changed and walked the
humblest among men,
which is exactly what
CHRIST is demonstrating

4)Abide in me, and I in you,
as the branch cannot bear
fruit of itself, except it abide
in the vine; no more can ye,
except ye abide in me
ABIDE IN ME AND I IN YOU
Remain united to me by a
living faith, live a life of
dependence on CHRIST, and
obey HIS doctrine, imitate
HIS example, and constantly
exercise faith in me, that he
remains, state, dwell,
continue, stay, attached to
CHRIST and HE will remain
in you, and HE will teach,
guide and comfort you
After a person believes in
JESUS CHRIST and is
forgiven, he or she receives
eternal life and power to
remain in CHRIST, given that
power, the believer must
accept that responsibility in
salvation and remain in
CHRIST, he must continue
abide in HIM, just as the
branch has life only as long
as the life of the vine flows
into it, so believes have
CHRIST’S lives only as long
as CHRIST’S life flows into
them through their
remaining in CHRIST:
The conditions by which
believers remain in CHRIST
are:
o
1)Keeping GOD’S
word continually in
our hearts and
minds and making it
the guide for our
action
o
2)Maintaining the
habit of constant 13
intimate
communion with
CHRIST in order to
draw strength from
HIM
o
3) Obeying CHRIST
commandment,
remaining in His
love
o
4) Loving each other
o
5)Keeping our lives
cleans through the
world, by resisting all
sin and yielding to
the spirit direction
As the branch cannot bear
fruit of itself, except it
abides in the vine, no more
can you, except ye abide in
me, JESUS CHRIST strongly
express the necessity of
abiding in HIM by fresh
repeated act of faith: the
continue to you such
gradual influences of grace,
within.
I will abide in you, making
it into a promise following a
command, and involving a
very strong synergistic
thought, which is a mutual
abiding or indwelling, the
abiding of the branch in the
vine suggests the
continence of vital
connection, with the living
stem, which suppose that
connection kept up
constant faith so that the
believer is in a position to
draw life from the
legitimate source JESUS
CHRIST our LORD, which is a
perpetual inflow of the
living grace, which makes
the believer’s life one with
HIS LORD

3)For even CHRIST pleased
not himself; but, as it is
written, the reproaches of
them that reproached thee
fell on me
WE THEN THAT ARE
STRONG OUGHT TO BEAR
THE INFIRMITIES OF THE
WEAK
The believer who have
attained a greater degree of
knowledge in spiritual
things particularly in the
understanding that are
instructed in the Doctrine of
CHRIST, have a clearer
judgment, ought to bear
the infirmities of the weak,
to support them, to carry
them along as father or
mother would carry a child,
in love and tenderness,
understanding and care.
To accommodate ourselves
of their weakness, and also
to bear with them in their
failings, consequent of their
ignorance or weakness, and
not to condemn them or
despise them nor please
ourselves, we are to
continue the exhortation to
brotherly love and mutual
kindness and forbearance ,
to lift up,the believer has
the greatest pattern in the
world for denying self and
living for his neighbor
AND NOT TO PLEASE
OURSELVES
And not to please
ourselves, by entertaining
thoughts and make pleasing
reflections of their stronger
faith, greater degree of
knowledge, superior light
and understanding, which
encourages spiritual pride
and vanity and gratify their
appetite
LET EVERY ONE OF US
PLEASE HIS NEIGHBOR
Believers are to please their
neighbors refers to
LUKE 10:27-37 and not
ourselves, let us live for his
good and edification of our
brethren so that they might
be edified and built up in
faith , we must please our
neighbor, for the good of his
soul; not by serving his
wicked will, and indulging in
sinful ways, not to pleased,
gratified, and indulged, in
anything that is evil, if we
seek to please man we are
not the servant of JESUS
CHRIST , CHRIST whole life
was a self-denying, self
displeasing life.
We are not to please any
man in anything that is
contrary to the Gospel of
CHRIST or anything against
the commandment of GOD,
the great act of everything
is that GOD should be
glorified
FOR EVEN CHRIST PLEASED
NOT HIMSELF
The believer to follow the
example of JESUS CHRIST
our savior, HE did not live to
please Himself, He sought
not His own ease, His own
pleasure, profit, honor, and
glory, but to do HIS
FATHER’S work, and he
always did the things which
please him, in his
obedience, sufferings, and
death and sought not HIS
own, but GOD’S glory, he
came not to be Ministered
to, to be attended upon as
an earthly prince, enjoying
his own ease and pleasure,
worldly life and things
grateful to nature, but to
minister to others
MATTHEW 20:28 hence HE
appeared in form of a
servant, did the work of one
in life, and at last became
obedient to death, even the
death on the cross
PHILIPPIANS 2:7
He did not pray, FATHER,
remove this cup of sacrifice
and denial from me, no
matter what, he prayed: My
FATHER if it is possible, may
this cup be taken away from
me, yet not as I will, but
your will
MATTHEW 26:39) JESUS is
the believers pattern for
pleasing others instead of
self.
He came to do the will or
desire of GOD in
undertaking the work of
salvation work, it was
agreeable to the Divine
purpose, he was on earth to
do the will of GOD, to finish
the work which GOD had
given him to do, and not
seek his enjoyment or his
own comfort
In CHRIST life, he did not
seek personal comfort,
wealth, or friends, or
honors, he denied himself
to promote the welfare of
others: he was in a lonely
place that he might seek
out the needy and provide
for them
He never seek to preserve
his own life, when the
appointed time came to
give his life as ransom for
many, he gave himself up
THE REPROACHES OF THEM
THAT REPROACHED THEE
FELL ON ME
The reproaches of them
that reproached thee fell on
me: which are the words of
CHRIST unto his FATHER, he
bore in his bosom the
reproach they reproach
HIM- PSALMS 69:6 David
uttered these words in the
person of CHRIST the
Messiah, or as a type of him
they reproaches Him:
As being a glutton, a
winebibber, a friend of
publicans and sinners
MATTHEW 11:19, they say
he had s devil and they
charge Him blasphemy and
sedition MATTHEW 26:65
and when he is on the cross
mocked, reviled, which he
bore patiently the sins of
the people
The insult of those who
insult you, O, GOD, have
fallen on me, CHRIST please
not Himself, disregarding
the opinion of other in
order to please ourselves
destroys GOD’S work: living
sacrificially so as to help
others will strengthening
the kingdom of GOD,
CHRIST did not live for his
own interest but the
interests of others ,JESUS
CHRIST is the ultimate
model for the strong
believer, to the follow as an
example who emptied
HIMSELF, so that he could
clearly represents GOD and
HIS mission.
The believers duty is not to
please ourselves it enforced
by the example of CHRIST:
he did not please Himself
either, he was no self
pleaser, if HE had been, he
will never had given Himself
up willingly, as he did,
seeing then that the sins of
men, which are things that
cast reproach upon GOD,
were taken by CHRIST upon
Himself, he indeed
thoroughly felt the
reproaches, which
wickedness and bore them
in his body, and hath not
sought his own ease and
benefit, we ought also to
seek the good of others,
and to deny ourselves

Just as I please everyone in
all things as much as
possible adapting myself to
the interest s of others, not
seeking my own benefit but
that of the many, so that
they will be open to the
message of salvation and
many be saved.
Believers are to set
themselves as an example,
in which we seek to please
men, but in all to act the
part of a faithful servant of
CHRIST not to break the
law or contradict the
Gospel of CHRIST or any act
of doctrine, he took the
most proper method
We are not to seek our own
profit, worldly profit and
advantage, riches, wealth,
the benefits of life, ease,
rest, and pleasure,, we must
be willing to forego all for
the good of others, but for
the profit of many, that they
be saved,: he neglected his
own private advantage, and
the gratifying of himself,.
The believer is to please all
men in all things, he is not
to seek his own profit, that
is, his own will, advantage,
and benefits, he is to seek
the advantage and benefit
of others so that might be
saved, we must follow the
example of CHRIST doing
things for the glory of GOD

2)And walk in love, as
CHRIST also hath love us,,
and hath given himself for
us an offering and sacrifice
to GOD for a sweet-smelling
savor
AND WALK IN LOVE AS
CHRIST ALSO LOVE US:
The believer imitate GOD
by loving as CHRIST loved
us, that is , let our lives be
characterized by love, let
that be demonstrated in all
our behavior and
conversation, as CHRIST also
love us, believers are to
follow the example of
CHRIST, who imitate GOD ,
his acts, words, nature,
ways, grace and spirit, in the
special exhibition of love by
loving one another which
CHRIST has done for us , he
showed his love by giving
Himself to die for us that is
suffering and self-sacrifice,
for us and we should display
similar love to one another.
OFFERING AND SACRIFICE
TO GOD FOR SWEET
SMELLING SAVOR
Presenting Himself to the
FATHER, as representative
undertaking the cause of
the whole of our lost race,
including His life of
obedience, CHRIST is here
expressly called sacrifice,
for sins He was such
sacrifice; and his love was
shown in His being willing
that HIS blood should be
shed to reconciled sinners
to GOD, he offered up
Himself a propitiatory
sacrifice for the sins of the
people, to recompense
them, and make
reconciliation for them and
this is offered up to GOD,
against whom they had
sinned, to GOD save people
that is acceptable to GOD
The believer is to walk in
love, just as CHRIST has
loved us and has given
Himself as an offering and
sacrifice to GOD, he is to
love so much that he gives
himself as an offering and a
sacrifice, there is no limit to
the offerings and sacrifice of
our lives to GOD and to men

21)For even hereunto were
ye called: because CHRIST
also suffered for us, leaving
us an example, that ye
should follow his step
CHRIST ALSO SUFFERED
FOR US THAT FOLLOW HIS
STEP
The highest glory and
privilege of any believer is
to suffer for CHRIST and the
Gospel MATTHEW 5:10 in
suffering believers follow
the example of JESUS
CHRIST and the apostles,
believers must be willing to
suffer, suffering for CHRIST
is according to the will of
GOD, for his name sake and
for the Gospel , CHRIST
never sinned yet he
suffered so that we could be
set free, JESUS suffering was
part of GOD’S plan, which
was intended to save us, all
who follow JESUS must be
prepared to suffer, with
patience, calmness and
confidence in GOD for our
future goal
There is the great call of
believers to suffer as
CHRIST suffered for us,
believers are called to suffer
for CHRIST because the
believer who follows
CHRIST, who lives pure and
righteous life, is going to be
rejected by the world, the
world wants little to do with
purity and righteousness,
people want to live like
they want and do their own
thing, therefore, they
ridicule, mock, ignore,
abuse, bypass and
persecute anyone who lives
a strict life of purity and
righteousness, any person
who lives a self-denying life,
who sacrifices all he is and
has to meet the need of the
lost and dying world is going
to be rejected by the world,
people are not willing to live
unselfish and sacrificial lives
to meet the need of the
Poor, starving, diseased,
and the lost of the world,
people want more and
more comfort, recognition,,
possession and pleasures,
more money, property,
therefore, they want little
to do with a person who
sacrifice and proclaims a
message of righteousness
and sacrifice.
That is the very life to
which CHRIST call us, to be
righteous and sacrificial
living, the call to love GOD
and people to love GOD so
much that we live godly
lives and to love people so
much that we help them
even to the point of
sacrifice , CHRIST suffered
for us,, He gave everything,
he was and had to meet our
needs, therefore, we are to
follow His example, we are
to live righteous and
sacrificial all we are and
have to meet the need of
the world, and we are to
suffer what ever ridicule,
abuse and persecution that
come our way , JESUS
CHRIST has given us great
call to follow Him and suffer
for him and His cause, to
love GOD supremely by
living a righteous life and to
love the lost and dying of
the world by meeting their
desperate needs

6)He that saith he abideth
in him ought himself also so
to walk even as he walked
HE THAT SAID HE ABIDED
IN HIM
Living in CHRIST means
pursing habitual obedience,
it a life modeled after
CHRIST, the admonition to
live by the teaching of
JESUS, reveals that this
conformity come from us,
how can you be sure that
you belong to CHRIST? , if
you do what CHRIST says
and live as CHRIST wants,
we must obey His teachings
and follow His examples of
complete obedience to GOD
and loving serving to
people.
Obedience is one clear
indication that we know
CHRIST and belong to him, if
we do not obey CHRIST, it is
obvious that we do not
belong to Him or love Him,
as we obey CHRIST and His
commandments, our love
for GOD and our knowledge
of Him will grow towards
completeness and maturity,
we will live as JESUS did, in
union with GOD and
showing love for others.
The person who professes
JESUS CHRIST, who claims
that he knows GOD, is
obligated to walk as JESUS
CHRIST walk, he must the
condition to walk as CHRIST
walked by:
v Believing and trusting
GOD
v Worshiping and praying
to GOD
v Giving and sacrificing all
he was and had to GOD
v Seeking and following
after GOD
v Teaching and telling
other about GOD
v Loving and caring for
others just as GOD said
to do(love your
neighbor as yourself)
v Obeying all of GOD’S
commands
If a person professes to
know JESUS CHRIST he
must abide or remain in the
belief of His doctrine, ought
himself also to walk, even as
He walked, ought to live as
he live and act as he did, he
ought to imitate him JOHN
