consistency as an expression
and exercise of our firm
belief and confidence in
GOD’S for his blessing

and keep on praying till
JESUS comes

necessary that men should
be persistent in prayer

Christian is to develop a
constant spirit of prayer, to
maintain an unbroken
consciousness of GOD’s
presence, to practice and
walk in constant state of
prayer

UP” means not to lose heart,
not to give up to evil or turn
coward.
LUKE 18:2-8
THE ILLUSTRATION
There was the poor widow:
She was poor, without
money to bribe the judge
She was a widow, a woman
all alone, with no man and no
money to secure legal
counsel to pledge her case
She held no position or
authority.
She was prosecuted, being
taken advantage of and
abuse by some adversary
She came to the judge and
asked him to avenge her, to
get rid of her adversary
The judge did not help her,
his heart was hash and hard
he had no interest in helping
any one who would not
benefit his career by giving
bribe
But the poor widow kept on
coming and coming, pledging
and pleading, she would not
let the judge rest
NOTE-the unjust judge:
o Did not fear GOD
o Did nor regard man
Yet he gave into the widow,
granting her justice against
adversary.
Why? Because of continual
coming, he could not get rid
of her, the judge say that she
should not wear him out( not
to damage my reputation or
annoy me
GOD avenge and brings
justice to his chosen one who
persistent in prayer if they
are in trouble of being
ignored, slandered,
ridiculed, abuse persecuted,
cursed
If they pray day and night if
they recognize that GOD
alone can meet their need
LUKE 18: 2-8

UNJUST JUDGE AND THE
WIDOW
2) Saying, there was in a
city a judge, which feared not
GOD, neither regarded not
GOD, neither regarded man
3) And there was a widow in
that city; and she came unto
him, saying, avenge me of
mine adversary
4) And he would not for
awhile; but afterward he said
within himself, through I fear
not GOD, nor regard man
5) Yet because this widow
troubleth me, I will avenge
her, lest by her continual
coming she weary me
6) And the LORD said, hear
what the unjust judge saith
7) And shall not GOD avenge
his own elect, which cry day
and night unto him, though
he bear long with them?
8) I tell that he will avenge
them speedily, nevertheless
when the son of man
cometh, shall he find faith on
the earth?
PERSISTENCY IN PRAYER AS
ILLUSTRATED BY THE LORD
JESUS CHRIST OF THE
UNJUST JUDGE AND THE
WIDOW
The parable shows clearly
the Power of persistence
prayer even on judicial affairs
of men.
There was the unjust judge,
he had no fear of GOD and
cared even not for men
because, he took bribes and
gave out to favors persons
who held position and
authority, he did not care for
conscience of the Law, for
morality our justice
He was out to enrich his
pockets and to gain honor,
recognition and position,
power and wealth

THE REWARD OF BELIEVER
WHO PRAY IN SECRET
The reward of the praying
believer is the GOD’S reward
openly
Prayer is to be done
secretly.The believer is get
himself and pray to GOD
secretly which means:
1.Concentration is
needed: meditation
thinking deeply upon
GOD and sharing
accordingly
2.A person must be
alone- private out of
view from all
3.GOD is SPIRIT:
every believer should
have a secret, quiet
place where he draws
near GOD and GOD
draws near him
THE GREAT RULE FOR
PRAYERS
REPETITIVE
RITUAL, THOUGHTLESS AND
MEANINGLESS PRAYER:
Do not use vain repetition
JESUS CHRIST put the word
straight, while you pray:
RULE 1: do not use empty
repetition blabbing
RULE 2: Do not speak much
RULE 3: Trust GOD
*RELATED CHAPTER
ECCL. 5:2
5) And when thou prayest
thou shalt not be as the
hypocrites are for they love
to pray standing in the
synagogues and in the
corners of the streets, that
they may be seen by men,
verily I say unto you they
have their rewards
6) But thou, when thou
prayest, enter into thy closet,
and when thou hast shut thy
door, pray to thy FATHER
which is in screeet ; and thy
FATHER which seeth in secret
shall reward thee openly
7) But when ye pray, use not
vain repetitions as the
heathen do for they think
that they shall be heard for
their much speaking
8) Be no ye therefore like
unto them; for your knoweth
what things ye have need of,
before ye ask him
PRAYER AND ITS RIGHT
MOTIVE BY JESUS CHRIST
The right motive for prayer
is praying to be heard by
GOD
*THE WILLINGNESS TO PRAY
JESUS say when you pray,
the believer must take time
to get alone to pray
*A CLOSET/SOLITARY PLACE
IS A NECESSITY FOR
EFFECTIVE PRAYER
The believer must have a
private place deliberately
chosen for prayer
He must choose his private
closet for prayer most time is
get alone, and go into your
room, close the door be :
Unobserved, undisturbed,
and unheard:
§ Get alone:
unobserved-out of
everyone’s sight
§ Be alone
undisturbed-avoid
interruptions and
disturbances
§ Be alone: - Unheard
concentrate and
meditate to allow
GOD the freedom to
work in your heart as
he wish
The reason the believer
should pray in his private
closet is because:
GOD is unseen: therefore, a
person can meet GOD only in
secret Heart –to Heart
meeting and communication
if a person wishes to pray
and truly share with GOD
GOD is unseen: GOD is not a
show master before men, but
in substance, which in secret,
quiet and meditative thought
not for public show
MATHEW 7:7
PRAYER IS CONDITIONAL
Prayer is conditional, JESUS
CHRIST say we must ask for
we to be receive , if do not
ask we do not receive , if we
seek we find if we don’t seek
we will not find, if we knock,
it is open to us
IMPORTANCE OF PRAYER
*Prayer teaches us to
communicate and fellowship
with GOD and to trust and
seek GOD more and more
*Prayer teaches us both to
hope in GOD and his
promise, when GOD does not
give immediately, we
persistently keep coming into
his presence waiting and
hoping what he promise
*Prayer teaches us to love
GOD and get closer to GOD
*The believer must come to
GOD as our FATHER in
heaven, which is an
acknowledged his
almightiness that he is able
to do all we ask and grant our
request in accordance with
his word

FERVENCY OF PRAYER BY
BELIEVER:
“IMPORTUNITY”
(persistency)
JESUS often prays and
emphasized prayer as one of
the greatest needs of human
life, as it is a source of
strength of living and serving
GOD
*Believers must arise to the
hunger of prayer after same
strength of our LORD JESUS
CHRIST
*Pray frequently, and be
most earnest and
importunate in your prayers;
thou you shall obtain
whatsoever you ask
according to the will of GOD
*The believer shall get what
he ask, if he is fervent,
constant, persistent.
Persevering enduring and
sincere in seeking GOD
* A person who prays is to
continue asking for what he
needs
-Ask, and it will be given you,
But if in asking he does not
receive it, then
-Seek, and ye will find, But if
seeking he does not receive it
then
-Knock, and it will be open
unto you
We are to keep on asking and
seeking and knocking, ever
pleading for GOD to hear us
GOD will hear and answer a
person who perseveres and
endures in prayer
LUKE 21:34-36
Beware of anxieties or
care of this life: Which is
indulging more and more of
things of the world focuses
on:
  • Money and wealth
  • Recognition and position
  • Food and delicacies
  • Houses and furniture
  • Cars and other vehicles
LUKE 21:36

yourselves , lest at time your
hearts be overcharged with
surfeiting , and drunkenness ,
and cares of this life; and so
that day come upon you
unawares
35) For as a snare shall it
come on all them that dwell
on the face of the whole
earth
36) Watch ye therefore and
pray always, that ye may be
accounted worthy to escape
all these things that shall
come to pass, and to stand
before the son of man
WATCH AND PRAY FOR
JESUS RETURN
Believer is to guide his life by
not engaging in worldly acts:
It indulges in the appetite of
the flesh
- Praying all day, as he
walks through the
day
- Praying on all
occasion and about
everything
- Praying at appointed
time, time set aside
for nothing but prayer
