THE LORD IS NIGH UNTO THEM THAT
ARE OF A BROKEN HEART
GOD is ready to hear and help a
burden seems to be on the heart,
whose proud and self-willed heart
are subdued and the heart is
crushed by sorrow and sin and
deep guilt and made obedient to
GOD’S rule, is to those the LORD is
“NIGH” and are submissive and
made obedient to GOD’S will, such
he saves with an everlasting
salvation in him

*17)The sacrifice of GOD are a
broken spirit; a broken and contrite
heart, o GOD, thou wilt not despise

THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT
BLESSED- Means Happy it is the
explanation of the condition of the
believers inner condition of regeneration
as a result of the work of GOD, which
deals with in inner state of mind and
heart accountable to those who have
been saved, a life of grace and glory,
which comes from GOD only
*Every section of the sermon of the
mount is repeated and reflected in
substance in most places in the new
testament, which is for all believers.
JESUS began his sermon with words
that contradict the world focus, GOD’S
ways contradicts the world ways, which
deals with the inner state of mind and
heart that is the indispensable absolute
of true believer, if you want to live for
GOD you must be ready to do what
seems strange to the world:
Ø You must be willing to give when
others take,
Ø To love when other hate,
Ø To help when other abuse,
Ø Be giving your right to serve
other when others exploit others
Ø you will one day receive every
thing GOD has in store for you

A BROKEN SPIRIT AND CONTRITE
HEART
GOD wants a broken spirit and broken
and repentant heart , GOD will not turn
away a broken and contrite heart that
is a heart deeply affected , grieved and
full of remorse for sin and heavy with
grief, with our self-seeking proud
attitude is brought low , crushed or
broken by weight of guilt and cry to
GOD, for his forgiven grace, we can be
sure we can be accepted by him
ISAIAH 57:15
15)For thus saith and lofty one that
inhabiteth eternity, whose names is
Holy; I dwell in the high and holy
place, with him also that is of a
contrite and humble spirit, to revive
the heart of the contrite ones
PRACTICAL APPLICATION
WITH HIM ALSO THAT IS OF A
CONTRITE AND HUMBLE SPIRIT
With such also whose spirit are
broken and humbled and have
being thought for themselves and
are humbled under the sense of sin
and unworthiness by afflictions and
by sense of their sins for which they
were afflicted, that GOD would pity
and deliver out of their distresses
and submit to the righteousness of
JESUS CHRIST for there acceptance
and justification before GOD .
GOD response to the cry of such
people in order to revive them with
the light and life of his presence
ISAIAH 66:2
2)For all those things hath mine
hand made, and all those things
have been, saith the LORD, but to
this man will I look, even to him that
is poor and of a contrite spirit, and
trebleth at my word

which is of grace and glory,
which comes from GOD alone
The sermon is addressed to both JESUS
disciples and those who will later follow
him, it states the nature of the kingdom
of GOD:
v (1)They are a code of ethics for
disciple and standard of conduct
for all believers
v (2)They state the kingdom
values, what is eternal value
v (3)With what is worldly value,
which is earthly value
v (4)And show how the old
expectation will be fulfilled in
the new kingdom
v It set forth general way moral
conditions of future
participation in Messiah’s
kingdom
JESUS call and stress the need to
conform with moral behavior that
having right standing and conform to the
will of GOD, each beatitude includes
pronouncement of blessing, a
description of one considered of being
blessed and explanation of the blessing:
BLESSED- Happy
ARE THE POOR IN SPIRIT
*Are those who recognize their spiritual
poverty and casting aside all self
dependence, a humble opinion of
themselves, to seek GOD’S grace, those
devoid of spiritual arrogance, those who
regard themselves as insignificant, and
are ready to be guided by the ways and
the value of GOD revealed in the
scripture and not by the way and value
of the world, we must recognize that we
are not spiritually self-sufficient and
need the Holy sprit’s life, power and
sustaining grace in order to inherit the
kingdom of GOD

PRACTICAL APPLICATION
BUT TO THIS MAN WILL I LOOK
GOD say I prefer a humble heart
and a contrite spirit, which is one
downtrodden ,crushed, afflicted,
oppressed, deeply affected by sin,
which is opposed to, proud,
haughty, self-confident and self
righteous, that fear GOD and keep
his commandment

*GOD’S kingdom is organized
differently from worldly kingdom happy
are they, who, though they be not rich in
this world’s goods, but looking after
more excellent riches towards GOD and
of broken and contrite spirit , who
entertain low and mean thoughts of
themselves for their various sin, and
cannot entertains any proud opinion of
their righteousness, but escape into unto
the free grace of GOD, and the
righteousness of the LORD JESUS CHRIST
*For there is the kingdom of heaven,
which have Gospel preach, to their
heart, it enters in to them, is applied
unto them, they receive and embrace it
with the utmost joy and gladness. With
eternal glory that is prepared for them.

THEY THAT MOURN
BLESSED-They who mourn over the
committed sins and from their own
indwelling sin, which is always working
in them, and is a continual grief of mind
to them the unbelief of their hearts;
their daily infirmities, that they have
committed against GOD ,grieve the
spirit, and dishonor the gospel of CHRIST
Forsake them, the sorrow which flows
out in the tears that morning sin itself
and the stain which it has left upon the
soul., Personal grieve of one owns
weakness in relation to GOD, that true
GODLY sorrow which worketh true
repentance, watchfulness, a humble
mind, and continue dependance for
acceptance on the mercy of GOD in
CHRIST JESUS, with constant seeking the
Holy Spirit, to cleanse away the
remaining evil,
THEY SHALL BE COMFORTED
Such mourners shall be comforted by
GOD, they are comforted when they
discover the love of GOD, manifestations
of pardoning grace, through the

vengeance of our GOD; to comfort
all that mourn
PRACTICAL APPLICATION
TO COMFORT ALL THAT MOURN
To comfort all that mourn: that are
under afflictions, for their own
indwelling sin and under sense of
sins and their many actual
transgressions and for the sin of
others by pardoning grace and
mercy
All who morn their transgression
and shortcomings, their sins,
negligence, and ignorance, with a
hearty desire to be rid of them and
to serve GOD truly

sacrifice of JESUS, and enjoy the divine
presence; and they shall be comforted,
blessed with uninterrupted
communication with the FATHER SON
AND HOLY SPIRIT

The are the GODLY, who are

are proud and self-aggrandizing,
self-centered
The meek, shall delight themselves
of spiritual and eternal peace
through JESUS CHRIST in the world
to come. “NEW EARTH”

THE MEEK
The persons of a mild, gentle, long
suffering, and forgiving disposition, who
are slow to anger, and opposed to
anger, not easily provoked, and if at any
time he is provoked, he is soon pacified
; who never return evil for evil; but make
it their care to return evil for good; who
by the freshness, friendliness and
kindness of their disposition, endeavor
to reconcile such as may be offended
and to win them over to peace and love
Here meekness is to be considered, as
believers grace, a fruits of the Spirit of
GOD which was eminently in JESUS
CHRIST, and very patterned to believers,
who do not envy the gifts and grace of
the others; are willing to be instructed
and admonished, quietly submit to the
will of GOD in adverse dispensations and
subscribe to the grace of GOD
The meek are those who are humble
and submissive before GOD and their
way entirely and committed to him, they
are not more concerned about what
might happen to them personally, but
more concerned for GOD’S work, which

The poor or humbled, gentle and
teachable, whose heart the grace of
GOD had softened, sweetened,
subduing their pride and desire, and
their pride rebellion against GOD,
and aggressiveness toward man
their comfort shall not be short and
transitory, as worldly but shall
inherit life everlasting “New Earth”
PSALMS 149:4
4) For the LORD taketh pleasure in
his people; he will beautify the
meek with salvation
PRACTICAL APPLICATION
The humble, and lowly, and
repentant inherit, that tremble at
his word, and submit to it, that are
patient under affliction and show all
meekness towards men, they shall
have eternal salvation

must also be exhibited toward man
loving our neighbor.
That meekness produce peace , it is
prove of true greatness of soul, it comes
from the heart too great to be
concerned with little insults. humility,
because it is only the humble heart
which is also meek that can obey and
do not fight against GOD
FOR THEY SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH
But rather the “NEW” earth which will
be after this is burnt up; in which only
such persons as are here described shall
dwell and shall inherit it, by virtue of
their being heirs of GOD, and joint heirs
with CHRIST, REFERS:

Part of JESUS CHRIST’S mission on
earth was to demonstrate GOD’S
righteousness and to be a light to
the Gentiles(all nations) and
bringing the covenant of salvation

do hunger and thirst after
righteousness for they
shall be filled

DO HUNGER THIRST AFTER
RIGHTEOUSNESS
Those who are trembling for want of
righteousness; those who feel they are
lost sinners and strongly desire to be
holy , those who are poor and empty in
their spiritual poverty recognized the
depth of their need, and they hunger
and thirst for that which only GOD can
give them, who are not after riches,
honors and pleasure of this world , but ,
which itself is a prove of Spiritual rebirth
shall be satisfied, who diligently seek
the kingdom of GOD and his
righteousness shall be filled of longing
soul and hunger of GOD”s goodness

LORD have I righteousness and
strength; even to him shall men

PRACTICAL APPLICATION
IN THE LORD HAVE I RIGHTEOUSNESS
By GOD alone, or Messiah/JESUS
CHRIST who is the true GOD Have do
we have righteousness, to justify us
from all things, which we cannot be
justify by Law, we are made of GOD
righteousness through JESUS CHRIST,
who must submit to him, and we have
a full and complete righteousness in
him, GOD is well pleased, and all are
acquitted is given of grace and entitle
of eternal life

THE LORD OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

The Spiritual condition of believer
throughout their lives will depend on
their hunger and thirst for;
* The Presence of GOD
* The word of GOD
* The doctrine of JESUS CHRIST
* The fellowship with the Holy
Spirit
* The Believer is to hunger for the
things of GOD
The believer’s hunger for the things of
GOD is completely destroyed by the
worldly anxiety, deceitfulness of riches,
desire and extreme greed and pleasure
of life and failure to abide in JESUS
CHRIST, when the hunger of believers
for GOD and his righteousness is
destroyed, they will die spiritually

PRACTICAL APPLICATION
WITH THE MERCIFUL THOU WILT

The merciful man is good, gracious,
holy and godly, which signifies one
that obtains grace and mercy from
the LORD through regeneration
process.
A declaration similar to that of our
LORD blessed are the merciful for
they shall obtain mercy, that GOD

THE MERCIFUL
That is, those who are so affected by
the sufferings of others, who shows
mercy to those who are poor, destitute
and wretched, in their out ward
circumstances by both sympathizing
with them, and distributing unto them’
not only making expression by pity and
concerned; but communicate with
readiness, and cheerfulness, with
affection and tenderness and with a
view to the glory of GOD who also show
mercy, as to be willing to alleviate them
The tender-hearted, compassionate,
kind and generous, who is inwardly
affected with the infirmities, necessities,
and miseries of their fellow being,
feeling for them as their own, with
tender sympathy endeavor, as they have
ability, to relieve them; and who, not
confining their efforts to the

deals with men according to their
character, GOD will show towards
him the same character which he
shows to others
PSALMS 37:26
26) He is ever merciful, and lendeth;
and his seed is blessed
HE THAT IS MERCIFUL
The character, he is constantly
showing kindness, compassionate,
gracious and willing to help and
lend to others with mercy, he
sympathize with the poor in
distress, and shows mercy to the
miserable, not at intervals, or only
occasionally, but it is this that marks
his character of the believer

communicating of worldly relief to the
needy and miserable,
But labor also to do spiritual good; to
enlighten the darkness of men’s mind,
heal the disorder of their souls, and
recover them from the sin and sorrow,
from every unholy and unhappy temper,
from every sinful word and work, always
manifesting a readiness to forgive the
faults of others, as they themselves need
and expect forgiveness from GOD
The merciful are those who through
brotherly love, account for another
person’s distress as their own, who
weep over the calamities of others; who
out of their own property, feed the
hungry and clothe the naked, who
rebuked those that are in error , inform
the ignorant pardon the offending and
who, in short, use their utmost effort to
relieve and comfort others
THEY SHALL OBTAIN MERCY
When the believer who is regenerated,
and called by grace , will obtain at the
throne of grace to help him at the time
of need, who shall not only obtain mercy
of GOD in this life need and the life to
come.
The believer if they show mercy, as they
deal with their fellow human beings,
GOD will deal with them, he will incline
men to show them mercy and deal
kindly with them in this world, and he
himself will grant them mercy and loving
kindness in the day of judgment.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION
Those who are purged from
hypocrisy, and are not corrupt
desires and designs, and careful in
ordering
his thoughts, intentions and
affection, according to GOD’S word
Those who want to worship and
serve GOD and receive his blessing
must be pursuing a pure heart and
righteous life, while his hand should
be free from external act of sin
A pure heart refers to inward
holiness, right motives and
purposes
PSALMS 51 :10
10) create in me a clean heart, o
GOD; and renew a right spirit within
me
PRACTICAL APPLICATION
Purify, do your effectually work,
which is defiled with sin, and put in
me a holy frame of heart, whereby
both my inward filthiness may be
purged away, my sin.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

acceptance of the inward is only
accepted in the sight of GOD
The pure in heart determines the region
in which the purity is to be found that is
the Heart ,Ceremonial purity is not
sufficient , which represent desire and
of purity so described that is the ideal of
the religionist outward ceremonies,
rules, regulation that of lust and
covetous
But are those delivered from sin’s
power by GOD’s grace, purified by faith
but cleansed by the Spirit of GOD from
worldly thoughts, unprofitable
reasonings, earthly and fleshly desires,
and corrupt passions; not like the
religionist/ false teachers whose action
are outward righteousness of
ceremonial worship, rules, regulation,
programs.
They are purified from pride, self-well,
discontent, impatience, anger, malice
envy, covetousness, ambition; whose
hearts are circumcised to love the LORD
their GOD with all their hearts and their
neighbors as themselves.
The heart of man is naturally unclean;
nor is the power of man to make it clean,
or to be pure from his sin; or any man to
this life, is only through the word of
JESUS CHRIST
The pure in the heart therefore, are not
only upright before him, but possess and
maintain purity of intention and of
affection, strive without pretense to
please and glorify GOD, they have the
same attitude of GOD’s heart, a heart of
love, compassion, mercy
That purity is in heart, which is the seat
of thought, desire, motive, not in the
outward act, the pure in motives, the
single-minded, with undivided heart.
TO SEE GOD

Only the pure heart can see GOD, to
enjoy communication with him, see GOD
means to be a child and to dwell in his
presence, both now and in the future

9)Blessed are the
peacemakers; for they
shall be called the children
of GOD
|
BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS
Who not only study peace but diffuse it
live peaceable with all men, and with
one another, as their relationship
pleases , to, and their mutual comfort
requires; and with the men of this world;
who are ready and willing and very
serviceable, in uniting difference, and
making peace between their fellow
humanity
likeness of which appears in the
peacemakers, thus: the LORD is merciful
and glorious, long-suffering and
abundant in goodness and truth,
forgiving iniquity and transgression of
sin, and GOD who manifest himself as
the prince of peace, as the peace of GOD
passed every understanding, which is
clearly reflect in GOD.
That reflects in them and recognized as
Children of GOD as they bring others to
GOD
Those who strive to prevent contention,
strife and war, who use their influence
to reconcile opposing parties, and to
prevent lawsuits and hostilities in
families and neighborhoods, are
themselves of a peaceable temper, and
endeavor to promote peace in others,
and leave peacefully with all men
THEY SHALL BE CALLED THE CHILDREN
OF GOD
That they are and shall be owned by
GOD as his genuine children, by the
earthly privilege which peacemakers give
up rather disturb their peaceful relations
with others, and in other that they
should bring about peace between
others, they will generally enter into the
approval of the full privilege of their
relationship and blessing as Children of
GOD
