  PRACTICAL APPLICATION

 EXODUS 1:

1)now these are the names
of the children of Israel,
which came into Egypt;
every man and his
household came with Jacob
2)Reuben, Simeon, Levi,
and Judah
3)Issachar, Zebulum, and
Benjamin,
4)Dan, and Haphtali, Gad,
and Asher
5)And all the souls that
came out of the loins of
Jacobs were seventy souls:
Joseph was in Egypt already
6)And Joseph died, and all
his brethren, and all that
generation
7)And the children of Israel
were fruitful, and increased
abundantly, and multiplied,
and waxed exceeding
mighty; and the land was
filled with them

 THE MULTIPLICATION OF
ISRAELITES IN EGYPT AND
THEIR OPPRESSION BY A
NEW KING
Originally , Israel was called
Jacob, his name was
changed to Israel after he
wrestled with the Angel
GENESIS 32:20--40 twelve
sons became the founder of
the nation Israel, the sons
are listed according to their
Mothers and the son of the
two maid in GENESIS 35:23-
26 Reuben, Simon, Levi,
Judah, Issachar, and
Zebulun were all the sons
of Leah, Benjamin was the
son of Rachel, Dan and
Naphtali were sons of
Bilhah, the maid of Rachel
Gad and Asher were sons of
Zilpah, the maid of Leah
To place the multiplication
of the children of Israel into
a strong nation in its true
light, as the commencement
of the realization of the
promises of GOD, the
number of the Souls that
went down to Egypt is
repeated in GENESIS 46:27
as number of seventy
70)souls acknowledge the
wonderful providence of
GOD in the fulfilment of his
promises, the LORD has
promised Abraham that his
descendants would be a
great nation and multiply
them greatly GENESIS 12:2.
GEN 1 .7:2, 6 and GEN.22:17
EVERY MAN AND HIS
HOUSEHOLD- That is his
children, his grand children
all excepting Joseph and
families that are already in
Egypt.
GOD had delivered and
save his people, Israel, some
400 years earlier, he had led
them, every member of
Jacob’s family down into
Egypt, therefore GOD set
out to save and preserve his
people in order to fulfill his
purpose for them, by
making three moves:
The first move, GOD took
Joseph one of the sons of
Jacob and made him a ruler
of Egypt
The second move ,GOD
caused the entire family to
move away from the wordly
temptation and influence of
the Canaanites, because
Israel was not behaving like
the chosen seed, the people
of GOD, they were not
protecting the purity of the
godly family , the family was
being immersed in the
worldliness of their
environments, they were
following the life style of the
unbelievers the Canaanite
the people who live around
them and become part of
the Canaanite, by adopting
their ways of life, attracted
by their neighbors, they
could easily loose their
godly identity as the people
of GOD, he used famine to
drive them down to Egypt
The third move is that GOD
place them beside the
Egyptians, a people who
considers them
abomination, and totally
unacceptable, a people who
will have nothing to do with
them, thereby, Israel would
keep to itself and keep its
godly identity as they were
isolated, forced to live in
Goshen and keep the godly
line of descendant pure
GENESIS 46:34
Every member of Jacob’s
household went down into
Egypt, seventy
descendants”
Leah’s six sons had twenty
five sons and two grandson
which made a total of thirty
three (33) persons ,,
Rachel’s two sons had five
sons which seven persons,
Bilhah’s two sons had
eleven sons which is total
seven persons, Zilpha’s two
sons had eleven sons and
one daughters and two
grandsons , the total of the
sons and grandsons and
daughter is seventy persons.
GOD delivered his people
Israel down to Egypt, he
saved his people seventy of
them, those who truly
believed and sincerely
followed the only living and
true GOD

GOD cares for us, will
deliver and save us from the
very depth of sin and death,
no matter how and will
deliver us through crisis and
trails of life.
AND JOSEPH DIED
And Joseph died, and all his
brethren, all that migrated
generation; in which Joseph
and his brethren had lived,
these also died before the
oppression began, there
occurred that miraculous
increase in member of the
children of Israel, by which
the blessing of creation and
promise were fully realized.
GOD proved faithful and
kept fulfilling his promise
down through the
generation of the promised
seed to create a new nation
of believers and the reason
GOD appointed Israel to be
a great nation of people of
GOD:
A people through whom he
could send the very special
promise seed, meaning our
saviors JESUS CHRIST
A people through whom he
could send GOD’S Holy
word to the world
A people who would bear a
strong witness to the only
living and true GOD
A people who would love
and worship GOD
supremely
A person through whom
GOD demonstrate the great
truth about life and
salvation that led to life
everlasting, become
acceptable to GOD justified
by faith through JESUS
CHRIST and not by his own
works and righteousness
GOD meant the promised
seed to be a spiritual
people, which Abraham was
to give birth to, a new race
of Spiritual people of faith,
true and genuine believers
who will follow after GOD
and his promises, as all
believers are children of
Abraham ROMANS 4:11-25
EXODUS 1:8-21
8)Now there arose up a
new king over Egypt, which
knew not Joseph
9)And he said unto his
people, be hold the people
of the children of Israel are
more and mightier than we
10)Come on, let us deal
wisely with them; lest they
multiply, and it come to
pass, that, when there
falleth out ant war, they join
also unto our enemies, and
fight against us, and so get
them up out of the Land
11) Therefore they did set
over them taskmasters to
afflict them with their
burden and they built for
Pharaoh, treasure cities, PIi
thom, and Ramses.
12)But the more they
multiplied and grew, and
they were grieved because
of the children of Israel
13)And the Egyptians made
the children of Israel to
serve with rigor
14) And they made their
lives bitter with hard
bondages, in mortar, and in
brick, and in all manner of
service in the field; all their
service, wherein they made
them serve, was with rigor
THERE AROSE UP A NEW
KING WHICH KNEW NOT
JOSEPH
All that knew him loved
him, and the vast
obligation s which Joseph
had laid not only upon the
kingdom of Egypt, and the
king under whom JOSEPH
lived, in regard to those vast
additions of wealth and
power which he had made
to that crown, and were
kind to his relation for his
sake, but when he was dead
he was soon forgotten, and
the remembrance of the
good offices he had done
was either not retained or
not regarded.
The king was ignorant of
Joseph’s people, Israel,
ignorant of who they were,
of why they migrated to
Egypt, Ignorant of the great
contribution they had made
to Egypt’s labor force and to
the growth of the economy
down through the years ,
that they are basically
human beings with the
fundamental need to be
free.
AND HE SAID TO HIS
PEOPLE THE CHILDREN OF
ISRAEL ARE MIGHTIER
The promised blessing was
manifested, the new king
fear that the people were
great and stronger in
comparison with them,
which could not be true in
fact, but it is said to stir up
his men to attend to what
he was about to say, and to
work upon them to take
some speedy measures for
crushing this people-WHY?-
Israel’s population was
increasing, growing
They were becoming
mighty force of people just
by their numbers
The king fear their joining
forces with some enemy
and attacking Egypt
The Israelite were different
from the Egyptians,
different in appearance, life
style, and religion they are
treat in different ways,
feeling they are treat or
different in some way, and
it is high time to think and
secure themselves from
them, before they grow to
powerful in the land which
they were even though in
Goshen, is one of the reason
why Egypt persecuted Israel
LET US DEAL WISELY
Instead of open force, the
king proposes tactic, a
clever plan, political
craftiness or worldly
wisdom combine with
cunning and craft so that
Israel might not make
common cause with their
enemy , stirring up to a
quick dispatch , without
delay take some crafty
method to weaken and
diminish them gradually;
not with open force of
arms; but in a more private
and secret manner, so as
not to join our enemies
when there is fall out of war
so let us get them out of the
land
THEY SET OVER THEM
TASK- MASTERS, TO
AFFLICT THEM
They were virtually brought
into a condition slavery and
compelled to do forced
labor, they set over them ,
master of tribute
commissioners of taxes,
who had power to lay heavy
taxes upon them, and oblige
the to pay them, which
were very burdensome ,
and so to afflict them and
diminish their wealth and
riches, and obliged them to
harder labor so every way
contribute to distress them
The Egyptians launched a
brutal persecution against
Israel, the enslave them and
oppress them, mistreated
abused and beaten,, they
were forced to build two
storage cities of Pithom and
Rameses, treasure cities,
these might be built with
the money they collected
from them by way of tax,
since occupation is in
husbandry and in keeping
flocks and herds, and they
made use of more
laborious, it was deliberate
to cut the population
growth of Israel and the
method chosen was cruel
and brutal.
But the people over come
the persecution by
multiplying and bearing
more and more children,
when the Egyptians were
afflicting so much suffering
upon the Israelites, when
they are trying to wear the
people out, trying to make
them so tired that they
would not have strength to
conceive children, GOD
intervene , to accomplish
his great promise by their
multiplication and sending
the promise seed through
Israel to be fulfilled, as GOD
gave his people strength
and power to conceive and
bear children GOD caused
them to multiply despite
their suffering and tiredness
GOD permitted and use
the oppression of Israel in
order to separate them
from the idolatry and
immoral ways of the
Egyptians and prepared
them for their miraculous
deliverance and their faith
relation to him
The Egyptians were grieved
because of the children of
Israel, because of their
multiplication and increase,
and because their schemes
for decreasing their number
did not succeed; they were
as thorns in their flesh
THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL
MADE TO SERVE WITH
VIGOR
The Egyptian made the
children of Israel to serve
with harder service, used

oppress GOD’S people so
also Pharaoh oppress the
Children of Israel GOD’S
people, Satan held the
people of the world under
his rule; Pharaoh hold the
people of Egypt the children
of GOD under his rule, Satan
enslaves people to do his
will; to continue in sin;
Pharaoh enslaved the
Israelites the children of
GOD to do his will
EXODUS 1:15
15)And the king of Egypt
spake to the Hebrew
midwives , of which the
name of the one was
Shiphrah, and the name of
the other Puah
16)And he said, when ye do
the office of a midwife to
the Hebrew women, and
see them upon the stools: if
it be a Son, then ye shall kill
him; but if it be a daughter,
then she shall live.
17)But the midwives feared
GOD, and id not as the king
of Egypt commanded them,
but saved the men children
alive.
18)And the king of Egypt
called for the midwives, and
said unto them, why have
ye done this thing, and have
saved the men children
alive?
19And the midwives said
unto Pharoah , because the
Hebrew women are not as
the Egyptian women; for
they are lively, and are
delivered ere the midwives
come in unto them
20)Therefore GOD dealt
well with the midwives: and
THE KING SPAKE TO THE
HEBREW MIDWIVES
Some time- say five or six
years- having elapse and
Pharaoh’s first plan having
manifestly failed, the
Egyptian tried to destroy
Israel by the murder of their
children, the enmity that is
in the seed of the serpent,
against the seed of the
woman .
It is very difficult to say who
these midwives were,
whether Egyptian or
Hebrew women, Josephus is
of the opinion that they
were Egyptians and indeed
the king cannot offer such
thing to Hebrew women,
who he could never think
would ever comply with it,
though promises or
threaten: and the answer
they gave to Pharaoh
afterwards , that the
Hebrew women were not as
Egyptian women that they
may be for the latter.
As the first plan failed, the
king proceed to try the
second, and that is a bloody
act of cruel tyranny , he

the people multiplied and
waxed very mighty
21)And it come to pass
because the midwives
feared GOD that he made
them houses
plotted a terrible evil , a
horrendous persecution, he
commanded the midwives
to actually see that all boys
where kill at birth , while
they were still on the
delivery stool , seat for
women in labor, to kill them
without their mother
knowing that they destroy
every male child in the
birth of the Hebrews and to
leave the girls alive
THE MIDWIVES FEARED
GOD.
Against Pharaoh’s order,,
the deception plot of killing
the boys was overcome
with the fear of GOD, they
midwives simply fear GOD
more than they fear the
king, their faith inspired
them with such courage as
to risk their lives, by
disobeying the mandate of
the cruel king who is a
tyrant, they let the boys to
live, their faith in GOD gave
them the courage to take a
stand for what they know
was right, in this situation
disobeying the authority
was proper, GOD does not
expect us to obey those in
authority when they ask us
to disobey GOD and his
words.
AND KING CALLED FOR THE
MIDWIVES
Perceiving by the increase
of the Israelite, that they did
not obey his murderous
command, and said to
them, why have you done
this thing, and have saved
the male child of the
Hebrew alive? Not only did
you not kill them, but did
everything for them for
their future preservation
and health, the king was
furious , the midwives
avoided direct answer: but
they gave what was true,
their faith inspired them
with such courage as to risk
their lives, and the midwives
say to Pharaoh because the
Hebrew women are not as
the Egyptian woman, not
tender and weak, and
feeble, nor so ignorant of
midwifery, and needed not
the assistant of midwives as
the Egyptian woman, for
they are lively; or midwives
themselves, they know
knowledge of midwives for
thy can help themselves,
they give birth before the
midwives could reach them,
remember the, Hebrew
women are slave as they
work hard and physically
strong
GOD DEALT WITH THE
MIDWIVES HE MADE THE
HOUSES
The answer was acceptable
to Pharaoh, for they were
neither imprisoned nor
executed, rather they are
free to live and continue on
with their work as
midwives, GOD bless the
midwives and continue to
bless Israel as they continue
to multiply and Pharaoh
through the providence of
GOD built house for them,
gave the mid wives families
of their own house, because
they feared him sufficiently
to disobey the king, and
take their chance of
punishment, which might
have been very severe –
even perhaps death but
GOD over look their weak
unfaithful divergence from
the truth, and gave them a
reward house
Some other comment
says, Pharaoh, resolving
effectually to prevent the
increase of the Israelites
Built house for them, that
so they might no longer
have it in their power to
lodge their women in child
bed
These are strong and
courageous women, who
fear God, who do we fear
the most GOD or Man,
when the world attacks us,
ridicules us, mocks us, and
threatens us, imprison us
who do we fear the world
that we give in and follow
the world, that we become
discourage and give up, we
must not fear of those who
can the body but cannot kill
the soul MATTHEW 10:28
GOD touched the heart of a
believer, and she refuse to
obey the murderous laws of
Pharaoh, she refuse to kill
the baby boy, she boldly
took a stand and set out to
save the new born , a son
who was eventually to
become the great deliverer
of Israel
EXODUS 1:22
22)And Pharoah charged all
his people, saying, every son
that is born ye shall cast
into the river and every
daughter ye shall save alive
EVERY SON THAT IS BORN
YE CAST INTO THE NILE
The failure of his second
plan drove the king to acts
of cruelty and open murder.

he issued commands to all
his subjects, the third
oppression ordered by King
Pharaoh was a murderous
command ,the words are
universal , and might be
seen to apply to all
Egyptians, Pharaoh charged
all the people , knowing that
he could not carry his point
with midwives, he gave a
general order to all his
people, saying every son
born in his kingdom , born
to the Hebrews are to be
thrown into the Nile, the
extreme cruelty of the
measure involved hatred ,
the order if fully carried out,
would have resulted
obviously in the
extermination of the
Hebrews,
EXODUS 2:1-5
1)And there went a man of
the house of Levi, and took
to wife a daughter of Levi
2)And the woman
conceived, and bare a Son;
and when she saw him that
he was a goodly child, she
hid him three months
3)And when she could not
longer hide him, she took
for him and ark of bulrushes
, and daubed it with slime
and with pitch, and put the
child therein; and she laid it
in the flags by the river’s
brink
4)and his sister stood afar
off, to wit what would be
done to him
HERE WENT A MAN
There went a man of the
house of Levi this man was
Amram, the son of Kohath,
and grandson of Levi was
the husband and took a wife
the daughter of Levi; this
was Jochebed the wife
EXODUS 6:2 ,18 Numbers
26:59 the marriage took
place and two children,
Miriam and Aaron, were
born some years before
AND THE WOMAN
CONCEIVE AND BARE A
SON
Not for the first time as ,
nor even for the second, as
we learn from EXODUS 7:7
but for the third, Aaron was
three years old when Moses
was born, it seems just at
the time of his birth that 16
cruel law was made for the
murder of all the male
children of the Hebrews, at
the time when all the
Hebrew boys were ordered
to be thrown into the
Nile,and many no doubt
perish by the execution of
it, Moses’s parents had
Miriam and Aaron, both
elder than he, born to them
before that edict came out,
just when Pharaoh ‘s cruelty
rose to this height the
deliverer was born
WHEN SHE SAW THAT HE
WAS GOODLY CHILD SHE
HID THREE MONTHS
Moses’ Mother could not
bring herself to part with
such a fine infant, however,
the beauty of the child is
interpreted as a sign of
Divine favor resting upon
him, and an sign that GOD
had some great future in
store for him, so by faith in
this, his Parents, heedless of
consequences of disobeying
Pharaoh’s edict, hid him
perhaps even in the female
apartment, Egyptian were
mixed up with the Israelite
in Goshen, for three
months, in some private
apartment of their house,
though probably with the
hazard of their lives ,had he
been discovered, but the
circumstance of the beauty
strengthened her natural
affection, and made her
more concerned for his
preservation as express by
Stephen in ACT 7:20 it was
done in the belief that GOD
would watch over the child,
as an act of faith Hebrews
11:23
WHEN SHE COULD NO
LONGER HID HIM
For fear of being informed
against by some her
Egyptian neighbors, with
whom the Israelites lived
intermixed, because they
now grew more violent in
executing that bloody edict,
and the child growing up is
likely to be discovered, who
might hear the crying of the
child, or because of diligent
search made by Pharaoh
officers
She took for him an ark of
bulrushes: chest of the
papyrus or reed plant, like
basket which was
commonly used by
Egyptians for light and swift
boats which grew upon the
bank of Nile ISAIAH 18:2
and daubed it with slime
and with pitch, which made
the rushes or reeds stick
close together, and put the
child therein; committing it
to the care and providence
of GOD, hoping and
believing that by some
means or another it would
be preserved; for it was no
doubt, was done in faith
HEBREWS 11:23
And she laid it in the flag by
the river’s brink; among the
sedge, weeds and rushes,
that grew up at the bank of
river Nile; there she laid it,
that it might be carried
away with the stream of the
river, and that it might be
seen and taken up by
somebody that would have,
compassion on it and take
care of it, GOD undoubtedly
put it into her heart to do
this, to bring about his own
purposes: that Moses
might, by means, be
brought into the hands of
Pharaoh’s daughter, she did
all she could and trusted
GOD to work everything
out: to save her child, the
faith of Moses Mother was
so great
AND HIS SISTER STOOD
AFAR OF
THIS WAS Miriam, who is
supposed to be about ten
or twelve years of age, she
was placed herself, by the
instruction, at some
distance from the place
where the ark was, that she
might not be observed and
be though to belong to it,
and yet so near to observe
what became of it, to know
what would happen to it, if
any one took it up, and
what they did with it , She
was probably set to watch
by her Mother,
EXODUS 2:5-10
5)And the daughter of
Pharoah came down to
wash herself at the river;
and her maidens walked
along by the river’s side;
and when she saw the ark
among the flags, she sent
her maid to fetch it
6)And when she had
opened it she saw the child;
and behold, the babe wept,
and she had compassion on
him, and said, this is one of
the Hebrew children
7)Then said his sister to
Pharaoh’s daughter, shall I
go and call to thee a nurse
of the Hebrew women, that
she may nurse the child for
thee?
8)And Pharaoh’s daughter
said to her, go and the maid
went and called the child’s
mother
9)And Pharaoh’s daughter
said unto her, take this child
away, and nurse it for me,
and I will give thee thy
wages, and the woman took
the child, and nursed it
10)And the child grew, and
she brought him unto
Pharaoh’s daughter, and he
became her son, and she
called his name Moses, and
she said, because I drew
him out of the water
AND THE DAUGHTER OF
PHARAOH CAME DOWN TO
WASH HERSELF
Pharaoh daughter came
down to the river and began
to bath, as some point, she
noticed the basket floating
among the reds and asked
one of the servant to wade
in and get it, when
Pharaoh’s daughter opened
the basket, the baby
immediately began to cry,
this touched her heart and
she was moved with
compassion for the crying
child, she knew that that he
is a Hebrew child, at that
moment, Moses Sister
demonstrated great
courage: she walked up and
suggested that Pharaoh ‘s
daughter have a Hebrew
woman nurse for her, the
compassion for the child by
Pharaoh’s daughter and the
suggestion by Miriam for a
Hebrew Nurse stirred her to
act, Pharaoh daughter
agreed with the suggestion,
no doubt ,overruled, by the
providence of GOD, to agree
to have such a person
called, she instructed
Miriam to go and find a
Hebrew woman to nurse
the baby boy for her,
Jochebed moses mother
must have been waiting
near, eagerly expecting
perhaps, while hidden from
sight , watching the result,
and ready to appear the
moment that she was
summoned, Miriam knew
where to find her, Miriam
went quickly and brought
her own mother, Moses’
mother to Pharaoh’s
daughter, their family was
united, special opportunity
always come our ways
unexpectedly be in the plan
of GOD always by believing
and having faith in GOD
PHARAOH’S DAUGHTER SID
TAKE THIS CHILD AND
NURSE IT FOR MR
And Pharaoh’s daughter
said unto Jochebed the
Mother of Moses her being
come having made all
