BIBLE VERSE BIBLE REFERENCE PRACTICAL APPLICATION
EZEKIEL 18:30-32
30)Therefore i will judge you
o house of Israel, every one
according to his ways, saith
the GOD, Repent, and turn
yourselves from all your
transgressions; so iniquity
shall not be your ruin
31)Cast away from you all
your transgressions,
whereby ye have
transgressed; and make you
a new heart and anew spirt;
for why will ye die, o house
of Israel?
32)For I have no pleasure in
the death of him that dieth,
saith the LORD GOD;
wherefore turn yourselves,
and live
REPENT AND TURN FROM YOUR
TRANSGRESSION
AS GOD IS TO JUDGE SINNERS
ACCORDING TO THEIR WAYS,
Your ways shall be the standard
and measure, if you are good ,
you receive good; if you are evil,
you will suffer evil
REPENT
It will be safest for you and be
therefore advice, in your own
interest to turn yourself from all
your transgression/sins repent
and don’t gamble with your life
on self-justification, is to repent
and not to prevent or face the
wrath of GOD
CAST AWAY FROM ALL YOUR
TRANSGRESSION
Cast from you all your
transgression, which you have
committed and make yourselves
a new heart and a new spirit a
complete change and turn to GOD
GOD requires true repentance
not only to cease from sin, but
with anger throw sin away as a
hateful, evil thing, that it does
AND A NEW HEART AND SPIRIT
This shows that is not what man
can do, God alone can make a
new heart, but man should come
to GOD to receive them, which
will be renewed by GOD, A
regenerated heart and Spirit,
That a heart and spirit that fear
and worship God,, yield a hearty
humble, obedience to the living
GOD sincere repentance and
reformation
WHY WILL YOU DIE
Why will you bring yourselves to
destruction, it shows that man
cannot forsake his wickedness, till
his heart is changed which is the
only work of GOD
I HAVE NO PLEASURE IN THE
DEATH OF HIM THAT DIED SAID
THE LORD GOD
The gracious nature of GOD, is
that he takes pleasure in the
return of a sinner, sinner
displease GOD and when they
return back to GOD they please
him
GOD take no pleasure in the
afflictions, calamities and
captivity of men by death, but
rather let them repent and reform
show mercy and compassion of
GOD to sinners
TURN YOURSELVES do what you
can, leave that sins you love so
that you may live and not face
GOD’S anger
EZEKIEL 33:12-13
12)Therefore, thou son of
man, say unto the children of
thy people, the righteousness
of the righteous shall not
deliver him in the days of his
transgression; as for the
wicked of the wicked, he
shall not all thereby in the
day that he turneth from his
wickedness; neither shall the
righteous be able to live for
his righteousness in the day
that he sinneth
13)When I shall say to the
righteous, that he shall surely
live, if he trust to his own
righteousness, and commit
iniquity, all his righteousness
shall not be remembered;
but for his iniquity that he
hath committed, he shall die
for it
THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE
RIGHTEOUS CANNOT CONTINUE
TO SIN:
It is clear that a righteous man
cannot continue to be righteous
when he sin, in his past
experience in GOD, grace, the
new birth and his obedience will
not save him, The righteous of the
righteous shall no ever deliver
such a man if he returns to sin
Neither shall the righteous be
able to live for his righteousness
in the day that he sin- That a
righteous man trust in his
righteousness to save him, should
go back into sin, all the
righteousness shall not be
remembered but for the iniquity
he has committed he shall die for
it.
GOD has no pleasure in the death
of the righteous man who turn to
sin, his righteousness shall never
deliver him from sin, in the day
In the day that a righteous man
goes back into sin he will incur the
penalty of the broken law, and be
separated from GOD as all other
sinners are, past righteousness
will not save a righteous man
when he transgresses and
become a sinner again
RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE LAW
ROMANS 8:4
That the righteousness of the law
might be fulfilled in us, who walk
not after the flesh, but after the
Spirit
EZEKIEL 33:14-16
14) Again, when I say unto
the wicked, thou shalt surely
die; if he turn from his sin,
and do that which is lawful
and right
15)If the wicked restore the
pledge, give again that he
had robbed, walk in the
statutes of life, without
committing iniquity; he shall
surely live, he shall not die
16)None of his sins that he
hath committed shall be
mentioned unto him; he hath
done that which is lawful and
right; he shall not die
AGAIN SAY UNTO YOU THE
WICKED THOU SHALT SURELY DIE
That provide if the wicked
continues in the same course of
life, unrepentant and unbelieving:
But if he turn from his sin; repent
of it, and forsake it and do what is
lawful and right-Do that which is
agreeable to the law of GOD, and
what is right between man and
man; lives thoughtfully,
righteously, and godly, as well
denies ungodliness and worldly
lusts; whereby his repentance
genuine and true he will be saved
IF THE WICKED RESTORE THE
PLEDGE GIVE AGAIN THAT HE
HAD ROBBED
That a man make restitution of
what they have unjustly gotten
from other, which is express in
EPHESIANS 4:28 steal no more
but do honest work, so as to have
to give to the one who are in
need, if a man might quit robbery 11
and violence would be gainful
work and quit all scores by
repentance, that is not making a
trade of sinning and living in it
He shall surely live, he shall not
die.
NONE OF HIS SINS THAT HE HATH
COMMITTED SHALL BE MENTIONED
Charged upon him, or ever be
spoke of to him, either now, or at
the day of judgment, he had done
that which is lawful and right; has
repented of his sin look unto
JESUS CHRIST by faith for pardon
of it: and laid hold on his
righteousness for his justification;
and being influenced and assisted
by grace of GOD, has done that
which is right and good in the
sight of GOD and man, he shall
surely live a life of faith and
holiness; he continues to live, and
continue to the end and inherit
eternal life
DANIEL 9:13-14
13)As it is written in the law
of Moses, all this evil is come
upon us; yet made we not
our prayer before the LORD
our GOD, that we might turn
from our iniquities, and
understand thy truth
14)Therefore hath the LORD
watched upon the evil, and
brought it upon us; for the
LORD our GOD is righteous in
all his works which he doeth;
for we obeyed not his voice
13)As it is written in the law
of Moses, all this evil is come
upon us; yet made we not
our prayer before the LORD
our GOD, that we might turn
from our iniquities, and
understand thy truth
14)Therefore hath the LORD
watched upon the evil, and
brought it upon us; for the
LORD our GOD is righteous in
all his works which he doeth;
for we obeyed not his voice
YET MADE WE NOT PRAYER
BEFORE OUR GOD
There have plenty of external
show of praying, these prayers
were of no effect on account of
their outward ceremonial rituals,
lifeless, formal manner; but not
with sincerely and heartily, in
faith and fervency, under sense
repentance of sin, with confession
of it, and true repentance for it,
and so as to forsake it as follows;
That we might turn from our
iniquities; for since they did not
pray against sin, and entreat the
LORD to enable GOD to turn from
it and forsake it, but continue in
the course of disobedience there
prayer was not was vain
THEREFORE HAD THE LORD WATCHED
UPON THE EVIL AND BROUGHT IT
UPON US
The LORD had been inattentive
to the progress of thing unmindful
of his threatening, but careful
observe the course of events, he
watched the proper time fit to
bring upon them; indeed he
watched over evil of sins, to bring
upon men the evil of
chastisement or punishment
FOR THE LORD OUR GOD IS
RIGHTEOUS
The prophet’s clear GOD from
any imputation of injustice in any
of his works, his disciplinary
justice; though he watches over
the evil to bring it, yet he is
righteous in doing so; no charge
of unrighteousness is exhibited
against him,
The only reason why we suffer is
that we have sinned, true to the
calamities we suffer.
For we obeyed not his voice;
neither in his word, nor in his
prophet, wisdoms, his judgments
and being guilty of the evil of
fault, it was but just they should
bear the evil punishment
JOEL 2:13
13)And rend your heart, and
not, your garments and turn
unto the LORD your GOD; for
he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and of great
kindness, and repenteth him
of the evil
REND YOUR HEART
Let there be inward sorrow of
heart, and not the mere outward
manifestation of rending the
garment
JOSHUA 7:6
GOD is not satisfied with
outward acts of repentance,
tearing one’s garments, which is
done hypocritically that is done
without true sorrow or
repentance, GOD requires more
than external words of action, he
want a change of heart and
sorrow over sin, brokenness of
spirit under a sense of sin
But they reminded, on the other
hand, that mere outward
exhibitions benefit nothing unless
there also exist the deep inward
feelings of sorrow and grief for sin
and great offence against
themselves and in view of
pardoning grace and mercy
TURN UNTO THE LORD YOUR
GOD
A true repentant heart, is called a
Broken and contrite heart “
which rends and rips up by a
narrow search breaks of the
heart to discover the
abominations thereof their
stupidity
In repenting, look to GOD as your
GOD who is gracious, merciful and
kind, he is the GOD of all grace
and has laid up a fulness of it in
JESUS CHRIST
MICAH 7:18-19
18)Who is a GOD like unto
thee, that pardoneth iniquity,
and passeth by the
transgression of the remnant
of his heritage? He
retaianeth not his anger for
ever, because he delighteth
in his mercy
19)He will turn again, he will
have compassion upon us; he
will subdue our iniquities;
and thou wilt cast all their
sins into the depths of the
sea
WHO IS A GOD LIKE UNTO THEE
There is no GOD beside him none,
who made heaven and earth, the
sea and all therein, so great, so
mighty, as he; none like him for
the perfections of his nature; for
the work of his hands for blessing
of his goodness, both providence
and grace; and particularly for his
pardoning grace and mercy
THAT PARDONED INIQUITY
Takes away the guilt and
punishment too by his pardon
that lifts it up and takes it away,
as the word signifies; thus the
LORD has taken the sins of his
people off them and laid them on
CHRIST and he has accepted
them, and carried them away
never to be seen and
remembered any more applying
his pardon of grace and mercy to
them
AND PASSED BY THE TRANSGRESSION
OF THE REMNANT OF HIS HERITAGE
The people of GOD are his
portion, his lot, and his
inheritance; they are a remnant
according to the election of grace,
chosen of GOD, taken into the
covenant, redeemed by JESUS
CHRIST, and called by grace, and
brought to repent and believe;
these GOD forgives, even all their
transgressions, sins and iniquities
of every kind.
HE RETAINED NOT HIS ANGER FOR
EVER BECAUSE HE DELIGHT IN MERCY
That anger of sin which he
seemed to have against his
people, though in his just
displeasure GOD did send them
into captivity, yet because he do
not retain his anger for ever, their
captivity shall not be for ever, he
chastise his remnant, but will not
consume them
BECAUSE HE DELIGHT IN MERCY
All from the exceeding riches of
his mercy; it is his delight to show
mercy, our GOD is so wonderful
merciful that is his pleasure to
show mercy
HE WILL TURN AGAIN
From his anger, and show his face
and favor, with his everlasting and
unchangeable love
HE WILL HAVE COMPASSION UPON
US
The LORD is naturally
compassionate; he is full of
compassion; he has a heart of
compassion; these are tender
mercies that pardon sin
HE WILL SUBDUE OUR INIQUITY
The grace of pardon; sin is an
enemy to GOD and his people
strong and mighty for them; it
reigns over them, they are under
the power of it, and cannot get rid
of it and was conquered through
JESUS CHRIST and made an end to
it, as all sin are borne by CHRIST,
and are covered, blotted out and
forgiven and cast all sin to the
sea, and it cannot be found again

REPENT OF YOUR SIN
Repent indicate feeling sorrowful
and regret for sin, a change of
heart, attitude by recognition of
sin and reversal of thinking and
a radical changes in one’s life,
that involves forsaking sins and
turning to return to GOD
repentance was a basic message
of old testament prophets.
Repent, - change your inner self
your old way of thinking, regret
past sins, live your live in a way
that proves repentance; seek
GOD’S purpose for your life,
It is used in connection with
salvation primarily to that sense
of SIN which leads the sinner to
flee from the wrath to Come, to
look for relief only from above,
and eagerly to fall in with the
provided remedy
Repentance is a free decision on
the part of sinners, which requires
change of mind that resulted in a
change of conduct, made possible
by the enabling grace given to
them as they hear and believe the
gospel.
Repentance is not merely
sorrow, it involves complete
change of attitude regarding GOD
and SIN and it is often
accompanied by a sense of
sorrow , mourning, and
corresponding change in conduct,
repentance does not arise within
man himself, but is the result of
GOD’S mercy in leading man to it.
THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT
HAND
A kingdom for which repentance
was the proper preparation,
which is mostly spiritual, GOD is
about to appear in an
extraordinary manner, to erect
that kingdom , the direct rule of
GOD, which implies the reign of
the Messiah Daniel 7:14
As that kingdom was one of
purity, it was proper that the
people should prepare
themselves for it by turning from
their SINS and by bringing their
hearts into a state suitable to his
reign
The kingdom of heaven began
when GOD himself entered
human history as a man, which
bring about the reign of JESUS
CHRIST in the heart of believers.
It is the communication of
spiritual and internal grace to
many in whose heart it would
reign, which is of grace, in all
administration of it
MATHEW 9:13
13)But go ye and learn what
that meaneth, I will have
mercy, and not sacrifice; for I
am not come to call the
righteous, but sinners to
repentance
I WILL HAVE MERCY NOT SACRIFICE
JESUS reply the Pharisees who
generationally laid down all
religion upon rituals, sacrifice and
tradition are justified themselves,
sacrifice of slain beast, is the chief
part which is express on
ceremonial, rules, regulation,
outward worship
that is, those who are raised in an
opinion of their own
righteousness
FOR I AM NOT COME TO CALL THE
RIGHTEOUS
An expression of GOD’S desire that he
is after the soul of man for mercy and
compassion to seek and save those
that are lost ,with the burden of sin to
repent change their old ways and turn
to GOD,
The repentance, which is attended
with faith in CHRIST with views, hope
of pardon through his blood, by display
of the love of GOD through CHRIST
MATTHEW 3:7-8
7)But when he saw many of
the Pharisees and Sadducees
come to his baptism, he said
unto them o generation of
vipers, who hath warned you
to flee from the wrath to
come?
8)Bring forth therefore fruits
meet for
repentance
John the Baptist called the
people to be more than words or
rituals; their religion is outward in
form with no inward change of
heart, they oppose JESUS CHRIST
and his message that true religion
is a matter of the heart and spirit
not outward, ritualistic acts.
He told them to change their
behavior, prove by the way you
live that you have repented of
your sins
FRUITS MEET FOR REPENTANCE
*Prove that you have turned to
GOD, make fruits that accords
with repentance
*That is the proper fruits of
reformation; the proper evidence
that you are sincere , do not bring
your craftiness and camouflaging
to this work, do not carry your
hypocrisy into your profess
repentance.
*That is if you are truly
repentant, if you have a proper
sense of sin, and true repentance 18
for it, do such works as are
suitable to it, and will show the
genuineness of it, so repentance
is known for good works; these
are the fruits and effect of
repentance, and which are proofs
with men of sincerity of it
